About College:

Jijamata College of Science and Arts, Dnyaneshwarnagar, Bhende, a premier institution of higher learning in India, was founded by Shri Marutrao Ghule Patil Education Society (MGPES) in July 1992. Popularly known as Jijamata College, it is the oldest institution of higher learning in Newasa Taluka of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra state. The college is permanently affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University and is approved under Section 2 (f) and Section 12 (b) of the UGC act. It is a government aided college. Over the last few years, the College has undergone a massive infrastructural and pedagogical change leading to NAAC re- accrediting it with an ‘A’ grade. RE- ACCREDITATION BY (NAAC) AT “A” GRADE Jijamata College has earned for itself a name as provider of high quality education and has been in the forefront of innovations and change. The College was re-accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in November 2011 at “A” grade. The College is marching towards leadership in imparting relevant education of high standards in a disciplined and conducive environment. This initiative and performance of the College has been recognized by Savitribai Phule Pune University, through awards of special nature.

The college has also received the prestigious “The Best Affiliated College of Savitribai Phule Pune University” award from Savitribai Phule Pune University, during its foundation day on 10th February, 2011. The college campus (16 Acres) is dotted with lush green trees and shrubs all around. It has a most picturesque and inviting atmosphere. The college has Science and Arts faculties and offers instructions at graduate and postgraduate levels.

The college has been selected by Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi) for financial assistance under ‘Fund for Infrastructure development in Science and Technology’ (FIST) programme during the academic year, 2014-15.

Jijamata College is situated at Bhende village, in Newasa Tahasil of Ahmednagar District (65 Km from Ahmednagar and about 15 Km from Newasa) of Maharashtra state. Bhende is the heart of 40 villages generally known as Jayakwadi back water and project effected region. The college aims to provide educational facilities to the economically backward and rehabilitated project affected students. The college campus (16 Acres) is dotted with lush green trees and shrubs all around. It has a most picturesque and inviting atmosphere. The college has Science, Arts and Commerce faculties and offers instructions at graduate and postgraduate levels. The College is providing i) Remedial coaching for the students belonging to reserved categories and minority communities and ii) Conducting special coaching classes for entry in services for the students belonging to reserved categories and minority communities. The major objective of this college is to encourage and motivate students for intellectual, moral, social and academic growth and motivate them to seek higher education.
